Amazon is developing a drone-based delivery service called Prime Air. Amazon founder and CEO Jeff Bezos would like the drones to be a reality in 4-5 years. “The hard part here is putting in all the redundancy,” Bezos said. “All the reliability to say this can’t land on somebody’s head.” Plus you’ll have to get them to fly high enough that we don’t have modern day pirates specifically looking for packages and shooting the drones out of the sky.
The drones would be able to carry products that weigh as much as 5 pounds, which according to Bezos, accounts for 86% of the items that Amazon delivers.
