Tactus Technology has revealed their prototype touchscreen keyboard – one with buttons that are raised one moment and non-existent the next. It’s a version of haptic technology – simply put, a tactile feedback technology that responds to an action by the user. Rumble packs from video game controllers are a common example of haptic technology, as they pass vibrations through the controller to the user during certain sequences in games. Tactus has been developing these buttons for 4 years and hopes to bring it to market by 2013. Click the photo to see it in action.
