From the “$#*! I bookmarked and forgot to post” file comes those PowerBalance bracelets that at least one of your friend’s wears. Yeah, it’s just another..if you believe in what you’re being sold, then psychologically, you’ll believe that you’re feeling a difference when you use this product.
AKA, the placebo effect.
Basically, there was a huge class action lawsuit in Australia against the company stating that PowerBalance had to prove its effects, which, it couldn’t, so they released the following statement:
“We admit that there is no credible scientific evidence that supports our claims and therefore we engaged in misleading conduct in breach of s52 of the Trade Practices Act 1974. If you feel you have been misled by our promotions, we wish to unreservedly apologize and offer a full refund.”
This was from January, so the refund program has since stopped in Australia. Also, the US and EU don’t seem to care, so PowerBalance doesn’t have to prove anything in the US or the EU. Of course they don’t. Go capitalism!
